On Nov. 11, the Cantonese version of the theme song for the 15th National Games opening ceremony was officially released. The Cantonese song is titled "水連天." It was composed by Shu Nan, the music director of the opening ceremony, with lyrics by renowned lyricist Jolland Chan, who is also the event's artistic consultant. Well-known director Andrew Lau produced the opening ceremony, and famous Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung passionately performed the song. He also extended his blessings to the 15th National Games and cheered for the participating athletes.
The Cantonese version of the theme song has a touching story behind it. Shu Nan revealed that the Mandarin version of the song was sung by talented mainland artists Zhou Shen and Shan Yichun. When Shu Nan later invited Jacky Cheung to perform the Cantonese version, he did not hold much hope. Surprisingly, Jacky Cheung personally revised the lyrics and recorded the new version despite his busy concert tour. "The moment I heard Jacky Cheung's version in director Andrew Lau's office, I couldn't help but shed tears. I never expected this song could be performed to such heights."
