According to Xinhua News, the opening ceremony of the 15th National Games will take place tonight (Nov. 9) at 8 pm at the Guangdong Olympic Stadium. The lineup for the ceremony was officially announced yesterday (Nov. 8), featuring heavyweight guests such as Zhou Shen, Andy Lau, and Joey Yung, as well as Wing Chun practitioners, who will present a martial arts extravaganza.
The first chapter will be narrated through dance by Shan Chong, Huang Chendi, and Yang Chunying, showcasing the cultural origins. The second chapter will blend Lingnan charm with renowned Cantonese opera artists, including Liza Wang (Hong Kong), Zeng Xiaomin, and Mai Xiaorou (Macao), performing classic pieces. Wing Chun inheritors and martial artists will demonstrate the allure of traditional martial arts.
The third chapter will gather the artistic energy of the Great Bay Area: Zhang Zhongzhong and Lin Jiaxin will present the essence of early spring in Lingnan, while singers including Joey Yung (Hong Kong), Mike Tsang (Hong Kong), and Liu Naiqi (Macao) will contribute innovative performances. Classics will be revisited by artists including Jordan Chan (Hong Kong), Michael Tse (Hong Kong), Jerry Lamb (Hong Kong), and Chin Ka-lok (Hong Kong), with Andy Lau (Hong Kong) closing the show to elevate the theme. Zhou Shen and Shan Yichun will perform the opening ceremony's theme song to unite the sentiments of the three regions through song.
A responsible person from the organizing committee of the Guangzhou competition area introduced that this highly anticipated cultural sports event is built on the collaboration of teams from all three regions, from the creative team to production execution, and from operational support to stage performance, vividly interpreting the cooperative spirit of "GBA unity." On the evening of November 9, the opening ceremony will showcase innovative choreography and deep cultural roots, presenting a new vision for the integrated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. All performers and staff are prepared and aim to present a ceremony that reflects "international standards, Chinese style, Lingnan charm, and GBA allure."
