The Transport Department (TD) announced today (Nov. 5) on social media that it, together with relevant departments, has been committed to improving the waiting environments and facilities of existing public transport interchanges.
In addition to regular cleaning and maintenance, one interchange in each of Hong Kong's 18 districts has been selected for facility enhancement works.
These include upgrading lighting systems, optimizing ventilation, and refurbishing walls to ensure facilities meet daily operational needs and provide passengers with a more convenient and comfortable environment.
As of the end of October, improvement works at Siu Sai Wan (Island Resort) Public Transport Interchange, the Peak Public Transport Terminus, and the Olympic Station Public Transport Interchange have been completed.
Improvement works at other interchanges are also underway, with some partially completed. These include expanding the waiting areas for public light buses and franchised buses at the Shenzhen Bay Port, adding a pedestrian crossing at Tung Chung Station Bus Terminus, and replacing the ventilation system at Tsuen Wan (Bayview Garden) Bus Terminus.
All improvement projects are expected to be completed progressively starting from 2026.
