Reports have surfaced suggesting that Paris Olympic women's épée gold medalist and current External Affairs Manager at the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), Vivian Kong Man-wai, may run in the upcoming Legislative Council (LegCo) election.
Responding to media inquiries, the HKJC confirmed that Kong has been suspended from all her duties at the Club starting today, Nov. 1.
The HKJC stated that whether Kong decides to run is a personal decision. While employees are entitled to exercise their civic rights, including running for LegCo elections, the Club emphasized that it will not participate in any form of election campaign related to its employees. The HKJC also noted that it would not comment on individual cases of employees running for office.
