China's 15th National Games will be held in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao from Nov. 9 to 21. Etiquette assistants, serving as important representatives showcasing the city's character in the HK division, will take on key responsibilities such as presenting medals and guiding guests and athletes.
The training for etiquette assistants integrates both theory and practical exercises. The theoretical component covers core aspects of award ceremony etiquette, including on-site coordination and ceremonial procedures.
Practical training focuses on walking posture, standing posture, tray-holding, and guiding skills.
Additionally, the etiquette assistants will undergo full-process rehearsals to simulate the award ceremony.
Special emphasis is placed on facial expression management and body posture during training. To perfect their standard smiles, the assistants practice by holding chopsticks between their teeth. For walking practice, the team must maintain synchronized steps, with each step restricted to a length of 30 centimeters.
This is the first time the National Games has been co-hosted by three regions. All etiquette assistants will wear unified pink etiquette uniforms featuring Guangdong-style Yue embroidery, showcasing local cultural elements.
The selection process began in July, followed by a one-and-a-half-day specialized training and assessment session in August. Ultimately, only 75 candidates successfully passed and were chosen for the role.
