A shop in Mong Kok was burglarized. Around 12:30 pm today (Oct. 19), police received a report that a hairy crab specialty shop at 3 Yu Chau Street in Mong Kok had been burglarized. The male shopkeeper reported that the refrigerated cabinet containing hairy crabs had been opened and showed signs of being ransacked. The thieves stole a batch of hairy crabs worth approximately HK$5,000 and HK$3,000 in cash.
After the investigation, the police arrived at the scene and discovered that the lock on the shop's rear door had been broken and the exhaust fan had been pried open. The case is being classified as a burglary.
The shop owner explained that he operates three hairy crab specialty shops in Sham Shui Po and that this was his first in Mong Kok, anticipating the high traffic in Mong Kok. However, he was surprised to find it burglarized just 19 days after opening: "It was burglarized right after opening!"
