A major fire broke out this afternoon (Oct. 18) at around 4 p.m. at 34-37 Connaught Road Central in Central, Hong Kong.
The blaze rapidly spread along scaffolding, fueled by strong winds, engulfing the building in flames and sending thick smoke billowing into the sky. Witnesses reported hearing explosion-like sounds during the incident.
The Fire Services Department responded swiftly, deploying two water jets and two breathing apparatus teams to combat the fire. Approximately 30 people evacuated the building on their own, but three individuals were reportedly trapped inside an elevator. It remains unclear whether there are any injuries.
