This morning (April 22), a bus caught fire on Lantau Island, but no one was injured.
The incident occurred at 11:27 AM when a single-decker bus on the New Lantao Bus route 11 was traveling along Tung Chung Road towards Tung Chung. As it approached Shek Mun Kap, the bus suddenly erupted in flames and smoke.
The 35-year-old bus driver immediately called for help. Firefighters arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the bus may have slowed down suddenly due to engine overheating while in motion, leading to the fire, which is not considered suspicious. No injuries were reported, and about 65 passengers evacuated the bus safely.
