"At two years old, I tried to control the hockey ball on the pitch, and the hockey stick was longer than I was." Since then, Mohammed Ameera Khera has shown a passion for this sport. At five, she joined a hockey club and began receiving professional training, aspiring to become a Hong Kong representative team member, just like her father. Her enthusiasm for hockey has never waned.

Mohammed Ameera Khera was awarded the 2025 Hong Kong Outstanding Teens award and won the Best Player of the Match Award at the Women's Junior Asia Cup 2024. Facing challenges as the youngest member of the U21 team, she admits that it is both a challenge and an exciting experience. Her teammates and coaches always provide support, helping her learn and grow on the field, allowing her to draw knowledge and skills from more experienced players.

Ameera has a unique preparation routine before training and competitions. She ensures she gets enough sleep to stay energized and listens to motivational music before matches to help her focus. Her coach often tells them to eat bananas because "monkey never cramps," and this fun advice has become a part of her daily diet.

In addition to hockey, Ameera loves music and enjoys playing the piano and viola in her spare time, which helps her relax amid intense training and competitions. She firmly believes that the key to balancing academics and training is to make the most of her time, and she encourages young people to pursue their passions and enjoy every moment of the journey.

Ameera's mother shares her parenting style, emphasizing that while academics are important, many other things deserve attention. She stresses the importance of understanding children's interests and supporting their dreams. They rarely miss any of Ameera's competitions, always by her side to cheer her on. This selfless support has made Ameera even more determined to pursue her dreams.
