Chief Executive John Lee met with reporters today (Oct. 14) before the Executive Council meeting.
Lee announced that the 15th National Games (NG), the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) will be jointly hosted for the first time by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, with the opening ceremonies scheduled for November 9 and December 8, respectively. Last Thursday (Oct. 9), Lee attended the torch relay ceremony in Nansha, Guangzhou, and the torch has now been brought back to Hong Kong. In early next month, the torch relay will take place in Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. The Hong Kong relay route will focus on showcasing the region's cultural and sporting characteristics, with torchbearers including individuals from the sports community and other sectors; further details will be announced later.

Lee stated that the Hong Kong competition zone is fully prepared and ready for action, with all test events having been successfully completed. Detailed plans and sufficient arrangements have been made for various components, with over 4,000 athletes, team members, event personnel, and media expected to participate and cover the events in Hong Kong. The anticipated audience, both local and international, is expected to reach 100,000. Security and transportation plans have also been well-prepared. Additionally, the largest volunteer team, "Hong Kong Power," has been formed, with around 16,000 volunteers aged from 15 to over 80 years providing services.
Lee mentioned that the Hong Kong team will send over 600 athletes to compete in 28 events, marking the largest scale in the history of the games. Tomorrow (Oct. 15), he will host a flag presentation ceremony to cheer on Hong Kong athletes alongside the citizens.
