Chinese table tennis player Wang Chuqin graced the cover of L'Officiel Hommes' 17th anniversary special issue, released on Oct. 10, 2025. This marks his first appearance on the cover of one of the "major five men's magazines" and makes him the first Chinese athlete to feature on the anniversary edition since the magazine's inception.
The anniversary issue is regarded as the most significant project of the year for the magazine, with previous cover stars including top figures from various fields such as Lang Lang and Jackie Chan. This year, the decision to feature an athlete as the cover star is seen as a groundbreaking move.
The photoshoot took place at the Forbidden City, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the Palace Museum on the same day, Oct. 10, 2025. Notably, this is the first time the Forbidden City has been opened for an outdoor photoshoot by a fashion magazine.
