The sweltering heat in Hong Kong may soon come to an end. According to the HK Observatory, a northeast monsoon is forecasted to affect southern China early next week, leading to a slight drop in temperatures across the region. The nine-day weather forecast predicts that temperatures will dip to around 23 to 24 degrees Celsius next Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 20 and 21).

The Observatory noted that a broad area of low pressure will continue to bring showers to the coastal regions of Guangdong over the next couple of days. However, as the low-pressure trough moves away and is replaced by an upper-level anticyclone, Guangdong is expected to experience generally fine weather from the middle to the latter part of this week, though the heat will persist.
For today (Oct. 13), there will be periods of sunshine, scattered showers, and isolated thunderstorms in some areas in HK. Tomorrow, the weather is expected to feature brief sunny intervals and one or two isolated showers.
