According to South Korea's "Chosun Ilbo", South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hea-kyung made a rare appearance on JTBC's cooking show "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator", which aired on Oct. 6. The episode recorded an impressive 8.9% viewership rating, the highest in the program's history.
The South Korean presidential office revealed that the episode was pre-recorded on Sept. 28 and aired during prime time. This marked Lee's return to variety television after an eight-year hiatus. The show's previous record viewership was 7.4%, now surpassed by this latest episode.
Lee and Kim appeared in formal attire during the show. While the program traditionally features guest refrigerators and challenges chefs to create innovative dishes using the ingredients inside, this special episode departed from the usual format. Instead, it focused on showcasing iconic Korean ingredients, highlighting local flavors and culinary heritage.
During the episode, Lee expressed his desire to promote Korean cuisine globally.
