Xiaomi (01810) launched its highly anticipated Xiaomi 17 series smartphones yesterday (Sept. 27), directly competing with Apple's iPhone 17. Wang Hua, General Manager of Xiaomi's Public Relations Department, announced on Weibo that within just five minutes of the Xiaomi 17 series going on sale, it set new records for first-day sales and revenue across all price segments of domestic smartphones in 2025. Xiaomi's Chairman and CEO Lei Jun later added that the Xiaomi Pro Max model accounted for over 50% of the sales, also breaking the aforementioned records.
The Xiaomi 17 series is powered by Qualcomm's fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Supreme edition, with the base model starting at RMB 4,499. It features a battery life of 7,000 mAh, which is nearly double that of the iPhone 17. Lei Jun previously described it as the "king of small-sized battery life." The Pro version starts at RMB 4,999, featuring a 6.3-inch screen, while the Pro Max version boasts a 6.9-inch display.
Since its unveiling last Thursday (Sept. 25), the Xiaomi 17 series has generated significant market interest. Reports from local media indicate that the Xiaomi Home store in Haidian District, Beijing, was bustling the night before the launch, with staff revealing that over 100 orders were placed on the night of the launch event. "Some customers didn't even wait for the event to finish; they contacted us to place deposits after seeing the highlights leaked in advance."
