Typhoon Ragasa is gradually moving away from Hong Kong, but southeastern gale-force to storm-force winds continue to affect various parts of the city. The Airport Authority announced that no passenger flights will be arranged to take off or land before midnight tonight (Sept. 24). Airlines plan to resume operations gradually starting at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning.
With flight schedules expected to continue late into the night, the airport anticipates handling over 1,000 flights throughout the day, making tomorrow exceptionally busy. The Airport Authority also forecasted that Thursday (Sept. 25) and Friday (Sept. 26) will remain extremely busy as operations return to normal following the disruption caused by the typhoon.
Passengers are advised not to arrive at the airport too early unless their flight and seat have been confirmed with their airline. Those with confirmed flight details should allow sufficient time to travel to the airport.
Currently, only a small number of passengers remain inside the terminal, mainly those eager to board as soon as possible. The Airport's passenger care team has been deployed to distribute essential supplies such as blankets, water, and food. Additionally, cotton candy, popcorn, toys, and coloring materials have been provided to keep children entertained and to make the waiting time more bearable.
