As Super Typhoon Ragasa lashes Hong Kong, massive waves have been recorded along the city's eastern coastline. At around 3 p.m. today (Sept. 23), a family of three—a husband, wife, and their son—was reportedly swept into the sea near the shoreline outside a warehouse on Ka Yip Street, Chai Wan, while observing the rough waves.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and managed to rescue all three individuals. The man was conscious, but the woman and her son were found unconscious and were promptly transported to the hospital for treatment.

According to on-site reports, the family fell into the sea during the No. 8 Signal period. The exact cause of the incident remains under investigation.

The Hong Kong Observatory issued the Gale or Storm Signal No. 8 at 2:20 p.m. today, forecasting strong to gale-force northerly to northwesterly winds, with further intensification expected later.
