Super Typhoon Ragasa is expected to enter the northern South China Sea today (Sept. 22). With its expansive circulation and rapid movement, HK Observatory will issue a No. 1 standby signal at 12:20 pm and a No. 3 strong wind signal between 8 pm and 10 pm tonight. Due to the significant storm surge it could bring, coastal waters may reach levels similar to those seen during Typhoon Hato in 2017 and Typhoon Mangkhut in 2018. Residents in coastal areas are advised to take precautions against possible flooding.
