
In response to the widespread public attention surrounding Cai Guoqiang's recent firework display on the Himalayas, authorities from Shigatse city, Xizang autonomous region, issued an official statement on Sunday (Sept. 21):
Following the online release of the video Cai Guoqiang: Ascending Dragon on Saturday, which attracted significant public concern, the Shigatse municipal Party committee and municipal government have attached great importance to the matter. An investigation team has been set up and dispatched to the site for verification. Further actions will be taken in accordance with laws and regulations based on the findings.
On Sunday, Arc'teryx released an open apology stating: "We thank everyone for your concern and oversight regarding the ecological environment of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and we sincerely accept all criticisms and suggestions. We extend our deepest apologies to all. Arc'teryx pledges to carry out timely and effective remedial actions based on the assessment results and feedback from all sectors of society."
The same day, Cai Guoqiang also stated the art project: "We humbly accept all criticisms concerning the implementation of this artistic creation on the snowy plateau, and sincerely thank everyone for your concern and reminders. We acknowledge that there were indeed oversights in our planning, for which I deeply apologize."
The statement mentioned that he will actively cooperate with third-party institutions and relevant departments to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the project's impact on the natural ecology, and take concrete actions to protect the ecological environment of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. "If there is indeed environmental impact, we are willing to make every effort to carry out remedial and restoration measures, and will take practical actions to support the ecology and cultural tourism of Gyalzecounty, as well as to protect the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau's ecological environment."
