Chief Executive John Lee today (Sept. 17) delivered the new Policy Address, themed "Deepen Reforms and Committed to People's Livelihood; Capitalise on Our Advantages and Create Stronger Synergy Together", outlining multiple new initiatives. Lee stated that the SAR government will comprehensively review and renovate the Communist Party of China's wartime resistance sites across various districts, integrating them into experiential routes and educational activities.

Lee pointed out that this year marks the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and in the World Anti-Fascist War. The HKSAR Government has organised a series of large-scale commemorative activities, including exhibitions, film screenings, and library events, for the public to gain a deeper understanding of the spirit of unity and resilience displayed by the Chinese people in the fight for peace. We will collaborate with Shenzhen to promote a new educational route, themed "Chinese Cultural Celebrity Rescue" and focusing on history, to enhance the understanding of the War of Resistance in Hong Kong among the people of Hong Kong and tourists.

Lee stated that the government will fully leverage the role of the Office for Promoting Chinese Culture to establish the "Chinese Culture Festival" and the exhibition series on the general history of China as flagship programmes, advance the establishment of a museum showcasing the nation's development and achievements and an interactive experience hall for Chinese culture, and continue to roll out diverse community engagement activities to promote Chinese culture. The government will promote mainland patriotic education facilities by incorporating them into the SAR's patriotic education bases, encouraging more students and youth to visit; it will also build close ties with patriotic groups to consolidate efforts and jointly organise more patriotic education activities.

Lee added that the Education Bureau will integrate patriotic education into daily learning and teaching, including popularising the "Love Our Home, Treasure Our Country" initiative; continuously enhancing the training programme Constitution and Basic Law Student Ambassadors Training Scheme; designing experiential itineraries on the history of the founding of New China; conducting focused inspections on national education; aligning with updated national security education to provide continuous professional development and activities for teachers and students; releasing the finalised "Values Education Curriculum Framework"; and optimising the curriculum frameworks for senior secondary Chinese History and History subjects.
