On the morning of Sept. 3, a grand ceremony was held at Beijing's Tian'anmen Square to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
During the parade, 80,000 peace doves were released. These doves were provided by homing pigeon association members, carefully selected under strict standards. Each pigeon received a RMB 15 subsidy, and the fastest ones returned home within four minutes, showcasing their impressive homing abilities and the meticulous organization of the event.
According to a viral video online, a pigeon keeper in Beijing held a "meeting" with her pigeons before the parade. She instructed them to get along well with other pigeons, complete their task successfully, and reminded them not to bully others or eat too much, leaving food for pigeons with longer journeys home.
