According to CCTV News, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sept. 3 local time that he might send federal troops to Louisiana to combat crime. Trump stated that his administration is deciding whether to deploy troops to Chicago or "places like New Orleans."

Trump told reporters that he may go to Louisiana, where New Orleans has a significant crime problem. The government will solve this problem in about two weeks.

On the same day, when asked about the deployment of the National Guard to Chicago, U.S. Vice President Vance said, "There are no specific plans at this time."

On Aug. 11, Trump announced the deployment of the National Guard to assist in restoring legal order and public safety in Washington, D.C., while referring to cities governed by Democrats such as Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Baltimore, and Oakland as "problem cities." On Sept. 2, during a press conference at the White House, Trump stated that he would send the National Guard to Chicago to combat crime.
