Can "Welcome" be translated into action?
According to the Global Times, US President Trump has recently stated in multiple instances that he "welcomes Chinese students," even proposing to expand their numbers to 600,000. He remarked that without Chinese students, the US university system "would quickly collapse."

This has led to various criticisms within the US host on Fox News, Laura Anne Ingraham, openly questioned how this aligns with "America First," while far-right figure Laura Loomer claimed that no one wants 600,000 "Chinese spies."
The report also mentions that Trump had made similar statements about "welcoming Chinese students" back in June, yet no concrete actions have been observed since then. In fact, there has been an increase in unfounded scrutiny and harassment of Chinese students. The US often exhibits a "say one thing, do another" approach on many issues.
