The series of policies targeting international students by the US government has impacted young talent seeking education worldwide. The Secretary for Education, Choi Yuk-lin, stated today (Aug. 3) in a television program that the eight publicly funded universities in Hong Kong have received about 1,100 inquiries regarding student transfers from US institutions, and over 60 admission notices have been issued.
Choi indicated that the inquiries mainly involve transfers, with some students also participating in a local university's collaboration program with Harvard, allowing credits earned in Hong Kong to be converted into Harvard credits.
She also mentioned that top scholars have been conducting research in Hong Kong, but due to the sensitive nature of the relevant fields, details have not been disclosed. Additionally, she noted that local universities have been actively recruiting foreign scholars to come to Hong Kong.
