On Aug. 22, the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) director, Jeffrey Kruse, was dismissed from his position, according to a report by Reuters. The sudden decision has sparked criticism from Democratic lawmakers in Congress.
Mark Warner, the vice chair of the Senate Select Intelligence Committee, said in a statement, "The firing of yet another senior national security official underscores the Trump administration's dangerous habit of treating intelligence as a loyalty test rather than a safeguard for our country."
Kruse has not yet commented on his dismissal.
According to a report from The Washington Post on Aug. 22, the DIA, under Kruse's leadership, released an evaluation in June assessing the potential outcomes of US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. The report reportedly contradicted President Donald Trump's stance, leading to significant dissatisfaction within the White House.
