E-commerce giant Taobao has announced a major shipping policy update for Hong Kong customers, removing all minimum spending requirements for free delivery until Sept. 11. The new "¥0 Threshold Free Shipping" program allows Hong Kong consumers to enjoy completely free cross-border shipping on eligible items, marking a significant shift from the platform's previous RMB 99 minimum order policy.
To qualify for the promotion, products must carry specific "1-Item Free Shipping to HK" or "0-Threshold Free Shipping to HK" labels. Shoppers need to set their default delivery address to Hong Kong and select either official direct shipping or consolidated shipping with self-pickup options at designated Hong Kong locations during checkout. The move comes as Taobao aims to strengthen its competitive edge against local platforms like HKTVmall and international rivals such as Amazon.
In addition to the shipping benefits, Taobao is enhancing its return policy for Hong Kong customers. Items marked with "HK Local Returns" can now be sent back within 15 days of receipt, with users allowed up to five free returns per month. The streamlined return process includes convenient options like door-to-door pickup or drop-off at designated stations, with refunds issued after inspection at local Hong Kong return centers.
