Taobao's highly anticipated 618 Shopping Festival officially begins tomorrow, May 16, at 8 p.m. This year, Taobao Hong Kong has introduced a simplified promotional rule: an official 15% instant discount will apply to all eligible products, eliminating the need for bundling.
Taobao HK will launch dedicated sections for "Billion-Dollar Subsidies," "Factory Clearance Sales," and "Flash Deals" on its homepage starting May 30. The first wave of the 618 sales event will run until 11:59 p.m. on May 26.
In addition to the 15% instant discount, shoppers can stack consumption vouchers, category-specific coupons (e.g., beauty and fashion), and live-streaming red packets for even greater savings.
During the 618 event, HK users can enjoy waived transaction fees for payments made using AlipayHK balance or PayMe, with each user eligible for this benefit once. Shoppers can also pay in HKD to activate an 88VIP membership with a single click, unlocking RMB 820 worth of high-value consumption vouchers.
HK users will continue to enjoy free shipping for orders over RMB 99 on products labeled with a "HK￥99" tag. These items qualify for free delivery to Cainiao HK self-pickup points or self-pickup lockers, with no cross-boundary shipping fees. Additionally, items marked with "HK Local Returns" or "Supports HK Returns" are eligible for convenient local return services.
Taobao's PapaHome furniture showroom in China Hong Kong City, Tsim Sha Tsui, will host offline consumer events in early June, providing an immersive shopping experience for customers.
