According to US media reports on Aug. 6, Apple CEO Tim Cook presented President Donald Trump with a specially crafted plaque made of glass and 24-karat gold during a meeting at the White House's Oval Office on Wednesday.

The plaque, engraved with Trump's name and the Apple logo, was made from glass produced by Apple's iPhone glass supplier in Kentucky. It rests on a 24K gold base sourced from Utah. The design was created by a former US Marine who now works at Apple. According to Cook, this glass comes from Corning's production line and has been uniquely engraved for the President, and the base is made of 24K pure gold sourced from Utah.
During the meeting, Trump announced that Apple plans to invest an additional US$100 billion in US manufacturing over the next four years. As part of this initiative, Apple will inject US$2.5 billion into Corning Inc., marking a significant milestone where all iPhone and Apple Watch cover glass will, for the first time, be entirely produced at Corning's Kentucky facility.
Observers view this investment as Apple's strategic response to ongoing tariff pressures and its alignment with the "Made in America" initiative.
