The Hong Kong Observatory issued a black rain warning signal at 5:50 am, marking the fourth black rain alert of the year and breaking the record for the most black rain warnings issued in a single year.
How heavy is the rain in Hong Kong? As of 2 pm today, the Observatory headquarters has recorded 355.7 millimeters of rainfall, breaking the highest single-day rainfall record for August since 1884.
Many areas are experiencing flooding, with some streets resembling waterfalls.
