A thunderstorm warning is currently in effect. The Hong Kong Observatory has stated that an active southwest monsoon is bringing heavy showers and thunderstorms to the Guangdong coast and the northern South China Sea. Hong Kong will experience intermittent heavy showers and thunderstorms today (Aug. 3), with some areas experiencing more intense rainfall. Strong winds are expected offshore and in high-altitude areas.
The Transport Department has announced that, due to rough seas, some ferry services operated by Tsui Wah Ferry Service will be adjusted. Services between Stanley and Po Toi Island will be temporarily suspended, and the ferry departing Po Toi Island for Aberdeen at 6 pm will not stop at Stanley.
The Observatory forecasts that the weather in Hong Kong will remain unstable over the next couple of days, with heavy rain and thunderstorms at times. Showers are expected to gradually decrease by mid to late this week.
