Recently, US President Trump posted on his social media platform that the federal government will no longer provide any funding for the California high-speed rail project, calling it a "disastrous, severely over-budget 'train to nowhere.'"
A report from the US Department of Transportation earlier this June indicated that the California high-speed rail project faces a series of issues, including delays and mismanagement. "Since the bill was passed in 2008, 17 years have passed with US$16 billion spent, yet not a single track has been laid."
