South Korean group SUPER JUNIOR will hold two concerts in Hong Kong at AsiaWorld-Expo in September. Recently, they announced that the official ticketing platforms will be Damai and Fantopia, which are not the traditional local ticketing platforms commonly used by Hong Kong fans. This has raised concerns among some Hong Kong fans about the lack of Hong Kong dollar settlement options.
The Consumer Council stated that tickets for local concerts sold through non-local merchant-operated ticketing websites involve direct transactions with non-local merchants. In case of disputes, these generally do not fall within the scope of the Consumer Council's mediation. They urged consumers to consider the associated risks before making transactions.
The concert organizer iMe HONG KONG and ticketing platform Fantopia responded to the concerns, stating that Fantopia was registered in Hong Kong two years ago, and that tickets will be priced in Hong Kong dollars at the time of sale, reassuring potential buyers to feel confident in making purchases.
