Hong Kong is set to welcome China's second aircraft carrier, the Shandong. This visit marks the first time the Shandong carrier group will arrive in Hong Kong, making the city the only one to host two of China's aircraft carriers and to hold public open-house events during their visits.
With approval from the Central Military Commission, a naval formation including the aircraft carrier Shandong, guided missile destroyers Yan'an and Zhanjiang, and guided missile frigate Yuncheng will visit Hong Kong from July 3 to 7, according to a statement from China's Ministry of National Defense on Saturday.
During this visit, various open-day events and cultural exchange activities will be organized to provide Hong Kong residents with a direct and in-depth understanding of national defense and military modernization in the new era, as stated by the Chinese Defense Ministry.
The PLA Hong Kong Garrison is distributing 10,000 free tickets for public visits to warships, including the Shandong aircraft carrier, the Zhanjiang frigate, and the Yuncheng frigate, through its official WeChat account "香江礪劍" (Xiangjiang Lijian).
