After a year of classroom learning, Hong Kong children are ready for their long summer break. To celebrate, KMB announced today (June 24) the return of its popular "summer holiday free rides" promotion, allowing children to enjoy free bus travel on select days throughout the summer.
From July 1 to August 31, kids can ride for free on all KMB bus routes (except K12, K14, K17, and K18) every Sunday and public holiday, totaling 10 free travel days. The offer applies to children aged 3 to 11 who are eligible for child Octopus cards. Simply tap the card when boarding, and the fare will be set at $0.
This year's campaign features a vibrant yellow-themed bus decorated with tropical island elements like palm trees, seashells, and starfish, evoking a sunny summer vibe. The special bus will primarily operate on Route 170 (Sha Tin Station ⇋ Wah Fu), passing through bustling districts including Sha Tin, Hung Hom, Causeway Bay, and Aberdeen, spreading summer cheer across the city.
KMB also plans surprise pop-up events where families can take photos with the themed bus and receive special gifts. Details will be announced soon.
Over the past two years, the promotion has attracted over one million child passengers annually, making it a beloved summer tradition for Hong Kong families. Don't miss this chance to explore the city and create unforgettable memories!
