The Airport Express has raised its fares for the first time in eight years, with the new prices taking effect today (June 22). Under the new charges, adult tickets from the city to the airport or the exhibition center will increase by HK$5 to HK$15. For example, an adult passenger using Octopus to travel from Hong Kong Station to the airport will see the fare rise from HK$110 to HK$120, while child fares will increase by HK$5 to HK$60.
MTR has announced that starting today, children aged 3 to 11 can ride the Airport Express for free using a Child Octopus card during the summer period. Additionally, there will be a six-month half-price offer for holders of the JoyYou Card, totaling eight different fare discounts for various passenger groups, allowing residents and travelers to use the reliable and comfortable Airport Express service for journeys between the airport and the city.
From June 22 to August 31, children aged 3 to 11 can enter and exit using a Child Octopus card to ride the Airport Express for free between the city stations (Hong Kong, Kowloon, or Tsing Yi) and the airport station. JoyYou Card holders (Hong Kong residents aged 60 or above) can also enjoy half-price fares on the Airport Express between city stations and the airport from June 22 to January 4 next year.
Moreover, the group tickets for the Airport Express (for 2, 3, or 4 people) will maintain their discounted prices, which have been in place for over six months, until January 4 next year, with discounts as low as 58%.
At the same time, to facilitate residents and travelers attending events at the exhibition center, the Airport Express will continue to offer same-day round-trip fare discounts. Adults using Octopus can travel round-trip for as low as HK$53, averaging HK$26.5 per trip, with discounts of up to 71%. The free MTR shuttle service for Octopus card users will also apply.
