To celebrate the 28th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland and the People's Liberation Army (PLA) garrison in Hong Kong, the PLA Hong Kong Garrison will open three barracks—Stonecutters Island, Shek Kong, and San Wai—to the public on Saturday and Sunday (June 21 and 22).
This morning, the Stonecutters Island Barracks open day launched first, with orderly queues forming early at the entrance. Many children, accompanied by their parents, eagerly entered to explore.
During the open day, visitors could board naval vessels, inspect armored vehicles, try simulated shooting, and watch military performances. One child excitedly remarked that the pistol was heavier than expected and that the soldiers were "so cool." On-site, citizens enthusiastically took photos with PLA Hong Kong Garrison officers, their faces beaming with joy.
Visitors could exchange ticket stubs for commemorative gifts, which, according to attendees, included navy badges, PLA Hong Kong Garrison commemorative caps and cards, and thoughtfully prepared snacks and tissues.
