An Indian Airlines flight reportedly encountered issues today (June 16). According to Indian media, Flight AI315 was scheduled to depart from Hong Kong International Airport for Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. However, the pilot suspected a potential system malfunction during the flight and decided to turn back. Approximately an hour later, the aircraft safely returned to Hong Kong International Airport, with all passengers unharmed. A technical team is currently inspecting the plane to determine the cause of the issue.
Flight tracking platform FlightAware indicated that AI315 was originally set to take off around 8:50 AM from Hong Kong and was expected to arrive in New Delhi at noon after a six-hour flight. However, the flight was delayed by 3 hours and 9 minutes, departing Hong Kong at noon instead. After 1 hour and 18 minutes of flight, the aircraft returned to Hong Kong Airport.
The aircraft model is a Boeing 787-8, the same type involved in a recent serious accident. As of June 14, reports indicated that the death toll from the crash had risen to 279, with one passenger surviving. The victims included 241 onboard and 38 ground personnel.
