The U.S. military held a military parade in Washington on Saturday (June 14) to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Army. That day was also President Trump's 79th birthday. "No Kings" demonstrations against Trump broke out across the United States. The overall situation was peaceful, but eight people were detained in Georgia due to conflicts between police and citizens, and the Texas police arrested one person.
According to comprehensive U.S. media reports, DeKalb in Atlanta, Georgia, was accused of trespassing on the road and heading towards the interstate highway during the day's demonstration. The police believed that they were blocking traffic. After warning them to leave, they failed, so they used tear gas to disperse them and blocked the road. As of 5 p.m. local time, at least eight people had been arrested.
The authorities said that citizens have the right to demonstrate, emphasizing that police officers will respond appropriately when demonstrations turn to threaten public safety or ignore reasonable orders, and added that the police aim to protect individual rights and community well-being.
After careful consideration, Texas closed the state assembly in Austin, the capital, on the same day. Later, the police arrested one person on suspicion of making a "credible threat" to state legislators.
Organizers said that about 2,000 protests will be held in 50 states across the United States, and millions of people are expected to participate. This will become the largest and most intense protest in the United States since Trump took office. The authorities have threatened to deal with demonstrators in a tough manner.
