The Dai paper-making technique has been passed down for over 800 years. The earliest form of "paper" used for writing which later evolved into Dai paper made from mulberry bark, known in Dai language as "Galasha."
This paper-making technique is similar to Cai Lun's method from the Eastern Han Dynasty and is considered a living fossil of ancient Chinese papermaking.
