Dragon boat races and vibrant night markets drew nearly 500,000 visitors to Hong Kong on May 31, the first day of mainland China's holiday weekend, with total border crossings surging to 1.07 million. Immigration data revealed Lo Wu checkpoint handled 220,000 transits – the busiest among all ports – while High-Speed Rail West Kowloon Station welcomed 38,985 mainland arrivals as travelers favored rail access.

The festive momentum saw packed waterfronts across districts where drumbeats echoed alongside racing crews, while traditional Zongzi stalls attracted crowds at open-air bazaars. Sustained tourist influx continued through the holiday period, with Shenzhen Bay Port, Hong Kong International Airport, and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge also recording heavy traffic. The celebrations marked Hong Kong's largest Dragon Boat Festival turnout since pandemic restrictions eased, signaling a robust recovery in tourism.
