A bridge in Russia's western Bryansk collapsed late on May 31, causing a passenger train to derail, according to Russian media reports on June 1. Governor Alexander Bogomaz stated that the incident has resulted in at least seven fatalities, with 30 others hospitalized for treatment.
Approximately 180 personnel and 60 pieces of equipment from Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry are involved in rescue operations at the site, the reports cited the ministry as saying.
Moscow Railway attributed the collapse to "illegal interference in transport activities," which subsequently caused the derailment of the passenger train traveling from Moscow to Krym.
Bryansk Oblast, located in western Russia, borders both Ukraine and Belarus.
