Harvard University held its commencement ceremony on May 29 amid heavy attacks from the Trump administration. President Alan M. Garber received a minute-long applause before he spoke. He said he welcomed guests from down the street, across the country and around the world, as well as the class of 2025. Then he paused and said, "Around the world, just as it should be." That statement again drew cheers from the crowd.
The US government has been continuously tightening measures against Harvard University. On May 22, the US government announced the cancellation of Harvard University's qualifications for student and exchange programs, prohibiting the school from enrolling international students. On May 27, US officials stated that the Trump administration intends to cancel all federal funding for Harvard University. Additionally, the US government has halted new student visa interviews and is considering expanding social media scrutiny for international students.
