Dive into this time-honoured tradition for a weekend packed with high-octane races, lively festivities, and electrifying energy. Cheer on the paddlers as they slice through the waves in colourful boats to the thunderous beat of traditional drums. Whether you're a seasoned athlete, a passionate fan, or simply seeking a thrilling experience, it will get your pulse racing!

The grand finale of this year's dragon boat festival will take place on June 7 and 8, featuring a total of 80 races across two days, all in the 500-meter standard dragon boat category. The event has reached unprecedented heights, with 190 teams from 12 countries and regions vying for victory. While traditional powerhouses from the Greater Bay Area remain in the spotlight, the debut of Middle Eastern teams from Egypt and Qatar - marking the rise of "new forces" from the region - promises fresh excitement.
Key highlights include the traditional blessing of dragon heads on boats (where the dragon's eyes are ritually dotted to invoke good fortune), the Creative Costume Competition, where teams showcase flamboyant and humorous outfits, and the climactic award ceremonies honoring the champions.
Admission to the races is free for all. Spectators are advised to arrive at least one hour early to avoid crowds and secure the best viewing spots. Given Hong Kong's sweltering summer heat, attendees should prepare sun protection (hats, sunglasses, sunscreen) and stay hydrated. With large crowds expected, organizers also remind visitors to keep personal belongings secure and follow staff instructions for a smooth and enjoyable experience. Prepare for a thrilling blend of tradition, competition, and cultural flair!
