According to crypto intelligence firm Inca Digital, buyers of US President Donald Trump's meme coin, $TRUMP, collectively spent approximately US$148 million (HK$1.15 billion) to secure an invitation to a private dinner with Trump. The event, scheduled for May 22 at a private golf club in the Washington, D.C. suburbs, has sparked concerns about potential conflicts of interest and legal risks.
Trump's first major event tied to his meme coin has officially concluded. Promoted as "the world's most exclusive invitation" on his social media platform, Truth Social, the event promises to host the top 220 $TRUMP holders for dinner. The top 25 participants will also receive an "ultra-exclusive private VIP reception" and a "Special VIP Tour."
Inca Digital announced on May 12: "Congratulations, if you're in the top 220 on the leaderboard... President Trump will see YOU on May 22 at the Gala Dinner in Washington D.C." For security purposes, all invitees must pass a background check to confirm their attendance.
The price of $TRUMP, launched prior to Trump's inauguration, initially surged to US$75 but later plummeted to a low of US$7.50. Following the conclusion of the contest, the coin traded at approximately US$14 on Monday.
Meanwhile, Senate Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal has launched a formal investigation into the $TRUMP coin.
