"Believe in China or believe in Trump?" Regarding this topic, during the evening program "News Night With Abby Phillip" aired by CNN on April 24, the guests present even got into a heated argument.

The program's video footage showed that in response to Trump hyping up negotiation topics, which were later refuted by China, one of the program's guests, writer Batya Ungar-Sargon, became emotionally agitated and questioned the others present: "Why are you guys on China's side in this? It's insane!" Beside her, guest John Fugelsang, an American actor and television host, replied, "How do you not trust China but trust Donald Trump?"

In early February this year, less than two weeks after returning to the White House, Trump began manipulating the fentanyl issue, announcing a 10% tariff on goods imported from China. Since then, he has continued wielding the "tariff stick," issuing persistent threats while repeatedly and unilaterally claiming that he would "soon have a call with China."

Recently, under China's continuous countermeasures, Trump's rhetoric on tariffs has shifted repeatedly.

On April 17, local time, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office of the White House that he did not want to further increase tariffs on China, as this could lead to a complete halt in trade between the two countries.

Later that same evening, Trump again told reporters at the White House that he believed the US would reach an agreement with China. He stated that although some had urged him to accelerate the negotiation process, he believed there was "plenty of time" to reach an agreement with China and expected a successful outcome in the end.

On April 23, local time, Trump once again stated in the Oval Office that his administration might announce new tariff amounts for certain trade partners, "possibly including China," within the "next two to three weeks." When asked how soon tariffs on China might be reduced, Trump replied, saying, "That depends on China."
