Recently, renowned economist and professor at Columbia University, Jeffrey Sachs, openly criticized the U.S. government during a meeting held in China under the UN Security Council's Arria Formula. He listed numerous instances of U.S. unilateral actions across various fields.
Sachs pointed out that the U.S. is not only the largest perpetrator of economic coercion but has also carried out 64 covert regime change operations in other countries over 42 years. Additionally, he noted that the U.S. continues to expand its military presence globally, with 750 overseas military bases in 80 countries.
He also highlighted that the U.S. hinders the functioning of the United Nations system, continuously breaking agreements and withdrawing from international commitments, which undermines multilateralism.
Sachs stated that such a powerful and globally influential country as the U.S. has become the worst offender among UN member states in trampling on multilateral principles, posing significant risks and challenges to the world.
