In a recent White House press briefing, the spokesperson Karoline Leavitt revealed that Trump personally confirmed the U.S. is "doing very well" on the path to a potential trade deal with China. The administration is actively "setting the stage" for negotiations, with 18 proposals and support from over 100 countries worldwide. While there has been no direct talk with Chinese President Xi yet, officials say "the ball is moving in the right direction". US Treasury Secretary Bessent also told investors the current U.S.-China trade standoff is "unsustainable" and expects de-escalation soon.
