US President Donald Trump's online store has recently begun selling merchandise branded with the slogan "Trump 2028," raising speculation about a potential bid for a third term in office. However, the US Constitution explicitly prohibits anyone from being elected president more than twice.
Among the new items featured in the store is a red hat emblazoned with the phrase "Trump 2028," priced at US$50. The product description reads: "The future looks bright! Rewrite the rules with the Trump 2028 high crown hat. Fully embroidered with a snap closure in the back, this will become your new go-to hat."
In addition to the hat, the store also offers T-shirts, water bottles, and other products bearing the same slogan.
The 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution states that no person shall be elected to the office of the president more than twice. Trump served as president from 2017 to 2021, meaning he is constitutionally barred from running for the 2028 presidential election.
However, Trump has previously hinted that he is "not joking" about serving a third term. Last month, he stated that there are "ways" to achieve this goal.
