Amid tightened US restrictions on the export of artificial intelligence (AI) chips to China, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, met with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang at the Great Hall of the People on April 17.

This marks Huang's second visit to China in three months. During the meeting, Huang emphasized the importance of the Chinese market, expressed optimism about China's economic prospects, and reiterated NVIDIA's commitment to deepening its presence in China. He also pledged to play a positive role in promoting US-China economic and trade cooperation.

Huang's trip is widely seen as an effort to stabilize the Chinese market and mitigate the impact of rising US-China technology tensions on NVIDIA. According to US media reports, US President Donald Trump commented on Huang's visit.

Addressing the US government's decision to impose restrictions on NVIDIA's H20 chips, Huang acknowledged that the enhanced export controls have significantly affected NVIDIA's business. However, he stated that the company remains committed to optimizing its product portfolio to comply with regulations while continuing to serve the Chinese market.

When asked about his opinion on Huang's visit to Beijing, Trump responded, "Jensen is an amazing guy, a friend of mine. He's a person who's very proud of our country, loves our country, I'm not worried about Jensen at all."
