According to Reuters, as demand for the mainland Chinese AI platform DeepSeek continues to grow, Chinese companies are significantly increasing their orders for NVIDIA's H20 AI chips.
Sources indicate that since DeepSeek captured global attention last month, major tech firms such as Tencent, Alibaba, and ByteDance have substantially raised their orders for the H20 chips. Additionally, small companies in sectors like healthcare and education are beginning to purchase AI servers equipped with the DeepSeek model and NVIDIA's H20 chips. Previously, only well-funded financial and telecommunications companies acquired servers with AI computing systems.
Reports suggest that former U.S. President Donald Trump is considering implementing restrictions on the sale of H20 chips to China by American firms. This move aims to further control China's technological development, particularly in light of the surge in orders triggered by DeepSeek.
NVIDIA has not provided specific figures regarding chip demand but stated that its products succeed in a competitive environment. Analysts estimate that NVIDIA delivered around 1 million H20 chips last year, generating over US$12 billion in revenue.
