
Former Chief Executive and Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Leung Chun-ying, announced on social media platforms today (April 9) that his second daughter, Leung Chai-yan, has passed away at the age of 33.
Leung posted, "Leung Chai-yan died very suddenly, did not leave a word, just lying peacefully in bed, a few days ago she also took the initiative to go to the flu vaccination. Leung Chun-ying mentioned that after the police and forensic investigation, suicide and other suspicions can be ruled out, and also said, "I am grateful to all of you for your concern, understanding and condolences in our family's most difficult moment.
It was reported that at 10:40 p.m. on August 8, police received a report from the staff of a service apartment at No. 1 Oi Tak Street in Shau Kei Wan that a female resident was found unconscious in her room. Upon arrival, ambulance staff confirmed that Leung Chai-yan had died. Police believe the incident is not suspicious, and the cause of death has yet to be determined after an autopsy.
